Great review as usual, Z50 owners don't forget to upgrade to the latest firmware so your canera will recognise the 12-28mm & have the options for it.

I have the Iris 15mm f2.4 and the Nikon 24mm f1.8 and search for a solution to only have 1 lens. You think quality image is like what I have today ? Prime lens are always better then zoom lenses. thanks David

I’m ready for a new camera but I can’t consider Canons RF range because the build quality on both the camera and lenses just doesn’t cut it, I was thinking R6II and this lens but when I look at my EOS 70D and compare it to the new Canon RF cameras they look like toys in comparison, sure they will probably focus a lot faster and have lots more bells and whistles but I go in to some pretty harsh conditions and I feel the RF kit wouldn’t be able to stand the knocks and would be looking pretty rough in no time. Other offerings from Nikon, Sony and Fujifilm look much more robust and a lot more classy. I just can’t give Canon my cash for this stuff.

when you attached your 17-55 to your r7, did you find that the front of the lens was too heavy when putting it on a tripod? what did you do?

I am sorry to disagree but I found the edge distortion on this lens unusable. Benches in a park located at the edge of shot were horribly distorted and extended making the final image look surreal. I much prefer the 8-16 f2.8. Though more expensive it’s a much better lens and more versatile.

Lightroom makes the high ISO images look good, with their noise reduction software. Those ISOs are very useable for stills.

Hi Christopher, is Sigma full time manual lens? I couldn't find it anywhere.

Great video for putting these lenses in perspective with each other. Grabbed a Sigma 18-200 on eBay for $70 with a hood and 3 filters. Maybe things have changed in the past 8 years, but I still see more recent recommendations listing these lenses for beginners. 🤷

105mm on full frame is the true bear focal for portraits and even walk around . I never could figure out why 85mm was so popular when there was great 105s available

The fact that professional photographers do not carry around a Leica tells me they [Leicas] are not all that cracked up to be (and let's be honest, those guys are carrying no less than 30-50 grand in equipment at any given time).

This is actually a really good lens for the money this guy's just a negative prick

Maybe someday, Sony will bring electronic ND like a samsung got in their phones (not electronically accessible internal physical ND) so we can bypass all those problems and have variable auto ND mode too. Like getting 1/800sec shutter no matter bright or dark.

It's so hard to get quality one, but it's great to know. Thinking about filter, I use just as a protection, I should find something of higher quality, so my stills are not ruined...

Very fine work in reviewing lenses for a number of years. The writing style is enjoyable, with a little wimsey included. Excellent presentation, reflecting a passion for the subject.

Got a mail today that it arrived, im thinking of tradig in my 24mm 2.8 35mm gm 1.4 and maybe the 50 1.4 ?

I started out with the Sigma 24-70 2.8 first generation. It was very good but not as good as my adapted Canon EF 24-70 2.8II. I sold both and replaced it with the Sony 24-70 2.8 II. This zoom was breathtakingly fantastic. It’s the best zoom I have ever used across any platform. The colors, bokeh and sharpness are just outstanding. I’m not sure what to do with my prime lenses in that range. They are now relegated to low light and bokeh duties in very challenging conditions only. I must add that I prefer the warmer colors of the sigma zoom. While the Sony zoom was at a very painful price point. I am glad I purchased it. Trading in my other zooms did help.
